Explain

Forces are acting upon objects all the time. Forces either set an object in motion, slow an object's motion, or prevent an object from moving.

For example, gravity holds objects to Earth, so a skydiver experiences an unbalanced force of gravity pulling him/her to the ground that overpowers the force of fluid friction that works in the opposite direction.

Another example is when you slide your plate across the table. Your push (force) creates an unbalanced force causing it to move.

If the forces set an object in motion, then it is said that the object is experiencing unbalanced forces. If the object is not in motion, it is experiencing balanced forces.
